Conditions in the Alps have been really snowy over the last week snow down to 1200m and rain in the valley. Kate and I went down to Pont d'Ain on Sunday to compete in the annual Triathlain. The even is a combination of running, kayaking and mountain biking. Sunday started damp and cloudy but luckily things dried up before the start. The event is run in teams of 2 with over 500 teams taking part.

The course starts with a 1.5km run to the kayaks we then kayaked down the river Ain for 5km, we abandoned the kayaks and ran for 10km back up the river to our bikes. The mountain biking was the best bit of the course with really nice rolling wooded hills. The number of teams meant that the track had got pretty muddy in fact it was a bit like biking back home, many of the French teams were obviously not used to biking in such muddy conditions which Kate and I thought were great fun.

It was a great event that I would definitley do again I just need to do a bit more running training for next year.
