Elbrus
Mount Elbrus, 5642m, is Europe’s highest mountain situated in the Caucasus Mountains in the Russian Federation; it is one of the ‘Seven Summits’ attracting climbers from all over the world. If this is your first taste of high altitude mountaineering or the start of your Seven Summit dream, climbing Mt Elbrus will be a great mountaineering and cultural experience.
The mountain is a double summited Volcano which sits on the border between Europe and Asia and is a great objective for the fit mountaineer who has some basic crampon skills and some experience of moving on glaciated terrain.
We have developed a 15 day program that will allow you 7 days to acclimatise and 4 days for the ascent of Elbrus.
The Caucasus region is a fascinating place to visit with a mixture of European and Asian cultures with a good dose of Russian thrown in. In our program we will explore the area as we acclimatise for our ascent of Mount Elbrus. Acclimatisation is an essential part of any climb on Elbrus, at 5642m it will take your body a number of days to adjust to the altitude which is why we have created a trip that will give you the best preparation, to maximise your chance of summiting. (read our guide to altitude and acclimatisation) Our preparation in the beautiful Adyrsu valley will give you the chance to climb a number of peaks up to 4000m before having four days for our Elbrus ascent. We strongly believe that this offers a higher chance of success and gives us a bit of flexibility with the weather. Click here for a full itinerary. It also makes your trip into a mountaineering holiday as opposed to many trips which spend there whole time in one area or attempt to acclimatise as they climb the mountain. Dates and Price.
