The route we will be attempting on Elbrus is relatively straight forward. There is no technical difficulty, you need to be able to walk comfortably in crampons on glaciated terrain.
During the acclimatisation phase of your trip we will climb a number of glaciated mountains making sure you are completely familiar with crampons and glacier travel.
On the summit day we will leave early from the Barrels hut, passing the Pastukhov rocks, on the way to the col between Elbrus’ twin summits, gaining 1000m in altitude. Leaving the col behind, we will turn westwards and climb the final 300m on steeper ground to the roof of Europe.
Although there is little technical difficulty the climb is long, cold and high so being fit and strong is essential.
