Ice Climbing
No experience necessary just stamina and a head for heights. Ice climbing is a most exhilarating sport giving you an adrenalin surge second to none, whether you are a beginner or already experienced you are sure to find it thrilling.
Experience
We can offer an Ice Climbing adventure at any level from those who have never lifted an ice axe to those who are ready to move onto leading some of the harder routes themselves.
Venues
Chamonix is home to some great ice climbs itself, and the surrounding areas are world class. The Val de Cogne has a huge concentration of quality climbs as well as its neighbour, the lesser known valley of Val Savaranche. Also, Trient or Zinal in Switzerland and a host of other secret venues are waiting for you to discover them.
If conditions in the high mountains are good we may be able to climb a winter alpine route. In the Chamonix area, climbs on the East face of Mont Blanc du Tacul and the North Face of the Midi have been achieved by teams in recent winters.
How long?
We would like to offer you flexibility in your trip, so we can offer a trip starting at a minimum of 2 days guiding, this may be a weekend mid week or rolled into a ski holiday. Five days is fairly standard length for an ice climbing trip allowing a number of different venues to be explored. You may even want to combine a week of skiing and climbing with us.
What about kit and equipment?
We have a range of the latest ice tools for you to test including the latest leashless models, all technical equipment is included in the price.
How much?
We offer an all inclusive Chamonix to Chamonix price or we can provide the guiding and you can organize your own accommodation.
Private Guiding at 370 Euros per day per guide plus expenses, please drop us an e-mail for an all inclusive price. We would recommend no more than 2 people per guide, for the best experience.
When is the best time to go?
Mid December to late February.
Ice starts to form in December so you could steal a march on your mates and join us for a pre Christmas warm up or wait until the ice is a bit thicker later in the season and the days are longer.
Where else to go?
Specials away from the Chamonix area;
NORWAY
Have you heard of the famous Norwegian ice-falls of Rjukan? Why not meet your guide for the week there and be guided around this famous concentration of high quality, reliable ice climbs within easy access of the road covering all grades of climbing? You will meet your guide in Oslo accessible by low cost carrier from the UK then drive into the frozen heartland of Southern Norway, to the centre of the Telemark region made famous by the British Commando attack on the Nazi heavy water plant in WWII.
